Each of our toys has been bird tested ...... and flockmama approved!

All our birds are fed Roudybush pellets everyday.  They are also  fed fresh fruits & veggies, cornbread,  rice & bean mixtures and a high quality seed mix .

They drink from dishes or water bottles. They are on timed full spectrum lighting.

We do not breed our birds more than two clutches a year.  After the second clutch they are seperated into resting flights to vacation for the rest of the season!

So just what is " Something Special"?

Well sometimes a baby will come along that really is special.  It may or may not be the prettiest, the largest or the most vocal  but it always has a heart of gold and a personality to match.  It may want to cuddle all the time or just want to be with you constantly. It may be smarter than the average bear or do the most amazing tricks.  It is special in every way.  I used to keep these little ones but they make the most amazing pets and deserve more than a breeder birds life in my opinion. They don't happen often as my standards are pretty high,  so make sure to sign up for our mailing list if you want to be notified when one is available!

 A SOMETHING SPECIAL 12/06/07

Let me introduce you to.....

Patience

Hatched: 10/09/07

Whiteface Lutino

$250.00

These pictures hardly do this bird justice.  It is so much better looking in person. Ok this bird is absolutely gorgeous.  Snowball white and a big solid bird.  It does not have any thinning on its head like most lutino's and it is a love.  From a conformation standpoint it is a 10 out of 10.  A really beauty!

I have named this bird Patience as it has the patience of a saint.  It was hatched into a group of four and at one point I had 15 cockatiels that I was hand feeding and this one would always wait till the very end to get fed. I have since sold two of the clutch mates but one more is listed on the cockatiels for sale page currently.  I was holding this one back purposed as a breeder because of the conformation but it is such a love it deserves a loving pet home.

It steps up and down on command and is the prettiest bird...like a big puffy snowball.  Patience is all about love. It wants nothing more than to be with you and will often cuddle right into my neck. It has just started vocalizing so I am not sure what sex it will be but I do expect it will talk. It will call to me from birdie village for attention and is really really special.  Someone is going to get a great bird here. Until then it remains under my little wing!

I want Patience go to a home that will continue to allow her freedom from a cage.  It hardly ever stays in its cage unless to sleep and even then it will sleep in birdie village at times.   Patience needs someone that will show her the love and attention she deserves.

Update 11/10/07  Chaser started nipping at Melanie's children and missed me so much that it was decided,  for his happiness,  he should come home and remain with me.  He will no longer be offered for sale and will always remain under my little wing.  Thank you Melanie for taking such fine care of him and doing what was right for Chaser.  I hope your new bird is everything you and your family could hope for and more.

Chaser and Flockmama

Hatched: 06/15/07

unbanded

Chaser is a love and smart as a whip!  He was born on 06/15/07 which makes him just a little over 4 months old.

This little lovie is just a joy to watch and interact with.  He talks and whistles.  He says "Chaser" and "Hey Baby" just to name a few phrases. He steps up and gives kisses on command.  I have been teaching him for almost two months.   He comes when called ( for the most part LOL) and likes to land on your head.  I recently cut his wings so he won't be doing this for awhile.  He really wants all your attention.  He will grab my fingers when I type so that I can pet him instead.  You can hold him in one hand and turn him every which way and he will not bite.  He was handfed and likes to snuggle especially at night.  He will go fast!  He comes with all his toys and learning props.  He will make some lucky person an awesome pet....he is soooooo very special!

He was or should I say has been my personal pet.  He was supposed to be a breeder but I just fell in love with him from day one.  He actually slept with me for the first month or so....cuddled in the crook of my neck LOL! (Now who is crazy!) He actually throws a little ball around like a basketball.  He is the smartest bird I have had so far...I am amazed at him everyday.

We have been working with these colored buttons....they come in a variety of shapes, stars, hearts and circles to name a few.  We have been working on learning the colors Blue and Green. Every morning I find that he has moved them all into his water dish.  He plays with them all the time and I really think he gets it.  If I say "Chaser Green"  he will choose the green button with his beak from my hand and throw it. The same holds true with "Chaser Blue" and he gets the correct color eight out of ten times.  That's pretty darn good for a four month old lovie!

The other day a client came over with her granddaughter and was playing with him.  Chaser was pretty tuckered out after she left and took a nap.  While he was sleeping I opened his cage door and propped it up with a link.  He woke up sometime later and flew over to me.  I asked him for a kiss and he pecked a kiss on my lips....then all of a sudden he realized the new lady lovebirds in the flight.  He flew over there and fluffed up big and said "Chaser"  "Chaser" and the ladies came to the front of the flight to see him....he started making kissy noises at them and then......

if I hadn't  heard this myself I would not have believed it....

......he says  "Heeeey  BAY BEE " " Heeeey  BAY BEE " over and over again putting some kissy noises in between.  My son and I were dying of laughter .  I grabbed his lil butt and put him in his cage cause my lil baby lovie is much to young for that kind of behavior LOL!

I  was not aware that he could say that.  It is what I say when I take any of my babies out of a cage or I greet them at feeding time.  He is sooooo smart.  At least twice a day I catch him on his swing just chatting away to himself....then all of a sudden it gets clearer and clearer and I can make out what he is saying.  This bird has brought me more joy than I can remember in such a long time. He has my heart.  I will cry when he leaves but I will take great pride and joy in the fact that I have helped produce this amazing pet for someone.

I prefer Chaser go to someone that will continue to work with him as he is really smart and I feel he will become easily bored being just a "normal" pet.  I swear this bird could be on Animal Planet!  Chaser does have one bad habit...he does not play well with other birds...at least cockatiels....he seems to like other lovebirds!

SAGE ( LWA CT 06 03)

7/11/06   Sage has been sold and got a fine home with another bird friend of hers!  Thanks Connie!

SAGE   LWA CT 06 03

  Hatched: 2/04/06

  $200.00

Sage is a Single Factor Dominent Yellowcheek Lutino and is a very pretty bird.  She has a buttercream body with a slightly darker yellow crest and a gorgeous yellow-orange cheekpatch. She is just over five months old and should be going through her juvenile molt soon.  Her tail is a little ragged but that is normal for this age and a new one is coming right around the corner.

So what makes Sage so special....

She is by far the most loveable bird that I have come across.  She likes nothing better than to snuggle. She thrives on snuggling but she does not demand it.  I have been holding on to this one for awhile trying to decide whether to keep her or not, but I really want her to go to a wonderful home. She deserves it!

If you are looking for a bird that can go anywhere and you can do anything with ...this is it.  I took this bird with me on the fourth of July and even the fireworks didn't startle it.  This is the bird that I choose to hand to kids that come up and ask if they can see my birds.  There is no chance of biting as she is just too darn sweet!

She is very well behaved. She steps up and down on command.  Sage is a quiet bird...don't expect any talking from this one. Sage interacts well with other birds.

This bird is all about love.  She likes head scratches and will often shut her eyes as I gently rub around her beak.  She likes being whispered to.  Most of all she likes people. If Sage has a fault it is that she is attracted to shiny objects.  She preens earrings, necklaces, rings and anything shiny!

Sage equals LOVE!

I would prefer Sage go to someone that is home throughout the day or who can take the bird with them.   This bird does not belong in a cage except to sleep.  It belongs out and about on your shoulder.

She is going to make someone an awesome lifetime companion.  Until then she remains under my littlewing!

MILLSEY (LWA CT 05 23)

1/11/06 - YIPPEE YIPPEE I GOT MYSELF A LOVING FOREVER HOME WITH A GREAT FAMILY ..... IT IS EVERYTHING I WANTED THEY ARE COMING TO GET ME ON SATURDAY! THANK YOU DIANE & TOM

Every once in a while a very special bird comes your way.  Well let me introduce you to Millsey.  I had named this bird Milley at first but low and behold a male it turned out to be, thus the name Millsey.  He is very aware of his name.

LWA CT 05 23

Hatched 7/22/05

Millsey hatched on 7/22/05 which makes him just a little over 5 months old.  He is just starting to color up on his face so he kind of looks dirty.  But mark my words he is a diamond in the rough and should be molting into a gorgeous bird soon. Sorry for the quality of the picture(s) I need a better camera.

I have spent countless hours with this bird. He even went to Thanksgiving dinner with me at my parents home. He is a love.  He likes nothing more than to sit on your shoulder and spend time with you. He actually prefers to be on my shoulder than on my hand and will climb up to cuddle into my neck. Even when it was just a little one this bird would come running to the cage door anytime it saw anyone.

He will call from its cage to get your attention. He wolf whistles and now whistles Happy Birthday To You.  He also says "Pretty bird...pretty pretty bird" and "Hello" and makes kissy noises...quite cute!  That is pretty good for a bird this young so I am sure he will be an avid talker. He will preen my hair and then stop and put his head down for some scratches.

I could have sold him countless times to the pet shops that purchase from me but I could never seem to put him in the carrier with the others. I decided to keep him as breeding stock but after some thought I would rather see him in a forever pet home because he is so special. I have no doubt that he will be someone's perfect companion as he has been mine for these past few months.

So...what makes Millsey so special...he is loving, smart, a good talker, and very handsome...what more could you want?

He remains under my "Little Wing" until the right home comes along!
